Why Personalized In-home Dog Training is the Best!

Many owners take on the burden of dog training themselves. Some are successful, which is wonderful. They’ve found what works for their dog. Others may try and not find that success. They’ll blame themselves, get frustrated, and feel as if calling a trainer is a form of giving up. I urge you not to feel that way. Just as some people are able to get fit on their own, others do better with a personal trainer. All dogs are different, and therefore effective training methods often differ.

What is particularly beneficial about my training services is that I work with your dog, one-on-one, to find a solution that will work for both you and your dog. I take into account your dog’s environment, temperament, history, and, of course, behavior. From there, I am able to design a program tailored to your dog’s needs, to work on the aspects of your dog’s behavior that makes your relationship more trying than it needs to be.

I was recently able to help a woman who bravely adopted a dog from the shelter even though he had been placed there for biting someone. The ironic thing was that the dog hadn’t shown any aggression when she called me. She was more concerned with his mouthing, jumping, and trouble housebreaking. In this case, the owner had been able to train him up to a point. The dog was responding quite well to certain commands, such as “off” and “sit” but she was having trouble getting through to him on these other matters.

We began a training regimen that involved basic obedience training, a structured schedule, proper leash handling techniques, and “place training” which essentially provides a dog with a calm down corner when they become overwhelmingly active. This training regimen worked beautifully for this dog, and I was able to help because the owner wasn’t afraid to ask for help.

If you’re experiencing any difficulty with your own dog’s behavior, I urge you to ask for help, as well. Give me a call at 800.649.7297 today.
